成人快手 IntroducingYou are in: Lancashire > Entertainment > Music > 成人快手 Introducing > Morning Call Morning CallMeet the Blackburn band who want to make it big, star on Later and shout about Rovers... Where are you from?In a word, Blackburn. All born and bred. Who plays what?Tony - Vocals / Bass Got any bad habits? We never rehearse - seriously! We drive the wrong way down one-way streets in town centres trying to find gigs. We play too much snooker. We ALWAYS forget things at gigs. Guitars tuners, snare drums, plugs, Tony... What's the band's history so far?Formed on the back of Ragtime Studios in Blackburn (owned by Carl) and had a free space to learn our trade. Got Macauley in to play keys about 10 months later and that created a more dynamic sound and allowed us to do something 'different.' Wrote A Little Late soon after, and pressed on from there. It's taken us about a year to put together the songs in our current set, and we're confident with the right exposure, we'll do East Lancs proud! The reviews have been very positive. Style and influences?Indie pop, definitely a bit of rock bubbling underneath as well. Wide ranging influences from the Beatles through to the Stone Roses - perhaps The Verve and The Killers from contemporary music. It's hard to put all the bands down that have influenced each one of us, we'd be here all night... Best moment so far? There have been a few - although mostly they've turned out to be false dawns and although they felt good at the time, they're not so great looking back. Two undoubted highlights are selling 100 tickets for our gig at King George's, and finding our current rehearsal space at The Borough in Darwen. It was a breakthrough allowing us to get on and work without worrying about silly little things. There have been many great gigs as well of course... Worst/most embarrassing moment so far?Tony's A Capella at The Late Room in Manchester and Macauley nearly deafening the sound engineer at the same venue were both embarrassing. Under The Boardwalk in Sheffield definitely the worst moment - although it was the making of us looking back. What's your favourite song?(all) Disco Chancer! No actually, Try to Keep Lying. It's hard to say. Snakes and Ladders is another favourite...and let's not forget A Little Late - it is our debut single after all! How did the 'Wild Rover' come about? We asked Rovers if they were interested in supporting a local band with their single release, and they said they were. In return we'd record them a version of The Wild Rover. A couple of bedroom demos later we'd agreed it all. A great honour for us, we're season ticket holders so it's great to be doing something for OUR club. Will you still support Rovers when you're rich and famous? We've always supported Rovers and we always will. That kind of goes without saying. Plus, we're musicians, there's no money in it. It's cost us about 5 grand so far! Hopefully the band will be famous though, and we'll make sure everyone knows what a great club The Rovers are. Thanks to Simon Williams, Alan Yardley, Neil Yardly, Gerald Jackson and all those there for supporting us. We hope to repay their faith. If you make it big - what are you looking forward to doing?Having our music judged by the nation, and have the chance to make a difference to someone's life through our music. We'd also like to appear on Later and be nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Anything else we should all know about?Visit our sites to find out all about us and our upcoming events www.morningcall.co.uk and www.myspace.com/themcuk or find us on facebook. last updated: 06/10/2008 at 15:32 Have Your Say
