Well, personally, i really really like graffiti, but i really think that there is a limit.. I mean, churches? Cars? Have some respect, plus, all that stuff done by people who are worse that toy's, they just go and scribble "JOHNNO KING" on someones fence, that is also considered graffiti, but on that hand is bad, personally, i think there needs to be a word for the graffiti which people put effort into, and that are often done by professionals, and the disgusting wall scribbles you see around. There are so many good artists and i would certainly like to continue it through for uni. Also, i love the good graffiti, alot, good on the masters.

i think graffiti is amazing, i love it ive been doing a graffiti project for my a levels and have found so many good artists from our area. i look up the some of the artists who spend hours upon hours comming up and creating these art masterpieces they must put so musch effort into their work, thy are privalaged to have so much skill and tallent, however some youths do put a bad name to graffiti, by just spaying rubbish all over the place, but the ones who do create art, i think, make it worth it, the counils should give the public certified places to paint, so less people would pait on everyone elses propperty. cheak out these artists work, their amazing ........... pryme..... era.... replete ...... sune ......its worth it, their absolutly amazing!!!! so down to the original question, it is art, no doubt about it xxxx

The problem with graffiti - you can teach kids to paint proper murals - problem is the sub-culture itself....These same kids will want to know graffiti history and roots - and will uncover the fact it started with Tagging - tagging being the part the general public despises most - and then the kids start learning about graffiti's rulings - you start at the bottom - tagging - then you progress - and if you want respect from 'hardcore' peers - the real movers and shakers in the scene - then you have to do trains - not way out of it - you have to do your tagging part to start learning - double edged sword. I'm a graffiti writer of nearly twenty years - I wouldn't have my kids ever involved in the sub-culture.

i dont think graffit is vandalism, but in the way itis used by some people can be seen as vandalism. If you are tagging a wall down your road and there is no purpose to this i think this is vandalism but if you are making a point and creating a piece of art to communicate a message this is art as it had a meaning and a purpose for it being created. It takes time and patience to create a piece of art and graffiti does take time, i admire the people who do graffiti for a profession or main hobbie as its much better than creating chaos and mess!!!

If graffiti is aesthetically pleasing, whether it's a tag or not - it's art. Tags can be just as artistic as normal graffiti, the patterns and images coming off the letters, or even on the letters themselves can be good to look at. If you just scrawl a quick normal type name on a wall "Kerri wz ere" what's the point? Why not make it artistic. There's a big difference between vandilism, and graffiti.

You clearly have to make a separation between graffiti that looks good and vandalism which is mostly just writing with no attention to how it looks.But one man's art is another man's vandalism. There's no rulebook. Some graffiti artists have gone on to become darlings of 'establishment' art simply by displaying their 'art' in a gallery rather than on someone's wall.
