What's the band's history so far?

Agape is the brain child of Mr. Steven Naylor. In 2004 the Morecambe Salvation Army went through a number of changes. It moved from its old home on Balmoral Road to about a mile further down the same road. As the grand opening of this new hall approached it was decided that a worship band should be formed and that is where Steven stepped in. At the grand opening of the new Salvation Army Church and Community Centre everything went well for the band. As such they were given Sunday evening services to run as a more informal and relaxed service.

But all was not calm underneath the service. Simon and Dwayne subsequently left the band after and acrimonious split in September 2004. What followed were three months of a two man band with extra people helping out with vocals. Then in 2004 Andrew Marshall joined the band on keyboard. This meant the band had two keyboard players. After some cagey Christmas performances things began to settle down again. In February 2005 Malcolm got a girlfriend. This meant he brought his friend Jason to the church in order to introduce him to her. With this Agape gained its final and most recent member, Jason, on Rhythm Guitar. This meant Steven was no longer needed on keyboard so he switched to Bass Guitar. In the months that followed the band played at Millom (the longest cul-de-sac in Britain). This was quite a successful trip but still didn鈥檛 give the band much progression.

In August 2005 there was another change of direction when Morecambe received new Salvation Army officers in the form of Captains Simon and Carolin Clampton. From this moment on the band was set into top gear. It was decided that after the hectic Christmas and Easter schedules that they鈥檇 look at writing some of their own material and possibly record an album. After an enlightening trip to ROOTS in 2006 it was full steam ahead!
