Help playing audio/video More about The Superkings... Where are you from?Burnley Who plays what?Lenni Lead guitar and vocals Got any bad habits?Lenni shouts and growls a lot What's the band's history so far?Sean, Mark and Wes grew up together, writing songs, playing their guitars and performing for a hobby at home and for family and friends at parties. They gave several performances at their Secondary school and entered and won three local competitions. Playing in public was put on hold in 1999 whilst Sean and Mark continued their education. Once Sean completed his degree in Music in the summer of 2005, the band got together on a more serious note to begin further writing and playing. After pressure from friends they agreed to perform locally and things began to move pretty quickly. The first gig was at 'The Cross Keys' in Burnley in December 2005, where the band had to play minus a percussionist with a drum machine. That gig resulted in three requests from drummers to join the band. The boys chose Chris Taylor-Hilton because they know his brother who plays football with them for Michelin. Chris made his debut with the band in January 2006 and has shown his worth by quickly learning the tunes. With Chris on board the band were complete and are now playing local venues, all requesting further gigs. The band’s popularity has swiftly grown with new fans now requesting CDs. To meet this local demand Sean has recorded some of The Superkings’ songs in his studio and put them on the Internet, but now listeners from much further afield are appreciating their tunes. They have had very positive feedback via email, as well as requests to play at Wharf 10 in Walsall and the Rush Green club in London - both gigs were a success. In addition, they are consistently reach the top five in the Overplay charts. On March 3rd the band was featured as ‘Pick for the Month’ of March 2006 for the tune ‘All My Dreams’ on the ‘Unsigned Band' Web’s home page. An email was sent to them from Ron and Shannon congratulating them on their success. Furthermore, after only having their music on the Internet for two weeks, the Irish film company ‘i-wire films’ contacted The Superkings asking if they could use their song ‘Come What May’ as a backing track for a scene of their film ’Triple Bill’ – the band have agreed to this. The band has also agreed to a further request from Monique Teri to also use 'Come What May' for her up and coming film 'Oidar', and will result in the band playing live at the prestigious premiere of the film at a top venue in London for 'The Prince's Trust. Additionally, BETA Records (US) have released their song ‘Change Your Mind’ on a compilation CD to promote BETA Records at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas; and the Winter Music conference in Miami Beach. More recently 2BR (Burnley’s radio station) has played three of The Superkings’ tunes on air: ‘All My Dreams, ‘Enjoy the Buzz‘ and Made in England’, their World Cup song.
