You've been with ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Kent for just over a year now. How did you get to become the weekend’s showbiz reporter?I’ve always been interested in the media and radio presenting and so I called the managing editor, Paul, and asked if there were any shows that I could come and help out on. A couple of weeks later a producer, called me back - I came in for a quick chat and here I am. So in the future would you like to have your own show on Radio Kent?Yeah, definitely. I would really like to be a radio or TV broadcaster, or a DJ like Sara Cox. Which presenters here at the station do you most look up to?The two Pauls, obviously, have been great. They really made me feel at ease when I first joined and Pat Marsh is lovely. What do all your friends think of you being a local Kent celebrity? They all think it’s great!Ìý My school’s really supportive too, especially the media department; they always make a big fuss of me. You often speak about your love of horses.Yeah, I’ve been horse riding since I was three years old. I ride most weekends, after the show, and go to lots of jumping shows.Ìý Do you have a horse at the moment? Not at the moment. My best friend and I went to look at one last weekend called Midge which I liked, but it’s HUGE. Might be a bit too big for me!! So, who’s the biggest celebrity that you’ve met so far, other than Paul James of course? We had Derek Martin who plays Charlie in EastEnders come into the studio the other week. And I’ve met Danni Harmer who’s Tracey Beaker a couple of times when she was Dorothy in ‘The Wizard of Oz’ in Chatham. She was really nice and two years older than me but much smaller, I couldn’t believe it! Your Mum is also here every week watching and supporting you. Doesn’t she mind coming in to the studio every weekend? No, she loves being here and the great atmosphere that comes with the show. SheÌý bakes cakes for the two Pauls – she really spoils them! Finally, what advice do you have for other teenagers like yourself wanting to get into TV or radio?I say just don’t hold back. You should always go for what you want. If I hadn't, I wouldn't be here now! last updated: 05/10/2009 at 15:53 You are in: Kent > ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Kent > Weekend programmes > The Sunday Supplement > Interview: Claire Bryant |
