Having been sat down at a desk with not one but two computer screens, I started carrying out my first few tasks: calling different people to try and get passes and interviews at Electric Gardens, a music festival set in the beautiful Mount Ephraim Gardens in Faversham.

No-one at home

Having called several numbers and being unsuccessful with each, I decided to e-mail the contacts that I had, and after this it was a case of waiting for a reply.

After a few days, I finally heard back from one of my contacts, who I was hoping would be able to arrange a few interviews for me, possibly with Calvin Harris and Kate Nash. The situation seemed promising, and he told me he would see what he could sort out.

As the week progressed however, interviews were arranged and then cancelled, with nobody being able to get in touch to find out what was going on. I was hopeful that I might get the interviews I wanted when I got to the festival, so tried not to be too despondent.

If at first you don't succeed...

The day of the festival arrived, and as I made my way around the stages, I tried calling my contact to see if any light could be shed on the interview situation. Call after call was made, with no answer to each, and I eventually had to give up on my hopes of getting any interviews.

I tried to sneak backstage past the security guards, but I was promptly told to turn around and walk the other way once they noticed I wasn鈥檛 wearing the correct wristband.

The experience made me realise how hard it is to get hold of people in this industry, as everybody is so busy. Hopefully there will be more opportunities in the future!
