Music lovers enduring the heat

Kent's Music Pilgrimage

As the English summer starts to reveal its long awaited blistering heat, Kent played host to Electric Gardens, the biggest music festival to grace the county鈥檚 presence.

Hidden within the rolling, luscious, green hills of Faversham, the festival proved slightly tricky to find. Despite the long, narrow, windy roads no one could criticise the view it provided. As I freed myself from the car that seemed to have turned into a furnace from the intense dry heat, I found myself on top of a hill overlooking the county.

As far as the eye could strain to see, it was clear, there was no greater place to hold a very English music festival other than Mount Ephraim Gardens.

"The buzz surrounding the Main Stage minutes before Calvin Harris entered stage right could not be ignored."

As the day progressed the sun was getting increasingly strong. The pale bare skin of the music lovers, who made their pilgrimage to Canterbury, were starting to turn a light shade of red.

Both Pull Tiger Tail and Blood Red Shoes have started to make waves within the world of music and most were happy to bask in the blazing heat, curious to find out what all the fuss is about.

The atmosphere finally started to pick up when the two words, Kate and Nash, were echoed over the speakers by the compare, who at the time was donning a rather colourful shirt. Kate Nash was certainly one crowd pleasing act. With her single 鈥淔oundations鈥 already sitting firmly at number two, Kate Nash was warmly welcomed by the adoring crowd.

As the sun set over the horizon creating a bright orange glow that flooded the sky, it was clear that the day had been building up to one act. With a top ten single and another reaching the top twenty, the buzz surrounding the Main Stage minutes before Calvin Harris entered stage right could not be ignored.

Reminiscent of the previous day the sun had his hat firmly on as the temperature rose even higher. There were red faces all round in wait for an unbelievable endless list of big named bands. With their Ray Ban 50鈥檚 sunglasses, navy blue striped tight t-shirts and skinny jeans, the indie kids were out in force.

Suffering the consequences of neglecting a bottle of sun lotion, a large crowd were gathered under an oak tree patiently watching Liverpudlian three piece,听 Hot Club De Paris.听

Saturday drawing to a close

The Maccabees won over the crowd from the first moment they appeared on stage and continued to hold them throughout. The quality of music that day was flawless and had a consistency that left my nothing less than impressed.

Despite the infamous Happy Mondays rounding up the weekend on the Main Stage, another artist with an endless confidence and quirky looks proved far more interesting. Patrick Wolf is an artist who does not do things by halves. With a whole array of instruments, Patrick Wolf stormed on stage and instantly received an ear deafening cheer.

An ever increasing number of people were rushing into the 'Second Stage' to see what the fuss was about. Rounding the festival off with his new single听 'Magic Position' Patrick Wolf left a lasting impression on everyone who was there to witness the event.听
