How to help

If you or a member of your family has been affected by the tsunami crisis and would like to talk to someone or seek further information and advice, you can try the telephone numbers and links below:

British Red Cross Tsunami Helpline - 0845 054 7474
Trained Red Cross volunteers are available from 9am until 9pm daily to offer support and advice or refer callers to the relevant organisation for expert help and information.

The Samaritans offer 24-hour confidential support to anyone in emotional distress. The helpline number is currently being handed out at UK airports to those passengers returning from the areas affected by the tsunami disaster.

This website contains information on the current number of British casualties, as well as advice for victims and their families. Includes an emergency telephone number

Helping those who have been separated by conflict or disaster to find information about their loved ones in order to restore contact.


Health and safety information and advice for those tourists who wish to go ahead with their travel plans and support the struggling local economy in those areas worst hit by the disaster.


The NCIS are warning people about the Tsunami Fraud Threat after receiving reports of criminals claiming to be collecting on behalf of charities involved in the tsunami relief effort.
