Every Picture Tells a StoryYou are in: Humber > 成人快手 Radio Humberside > Steve Redgrave's Late Show > Every Picture Tells a Story > Holderness Hi-siders MCC Holderness Hi-siders MCCThe Holderness Hi-riders Motor Cylce Club was formed by Sue and Paul Robinson who handed over the club to Rick Wright whilst they spent time abroad. Rick Wright along with Paul and Sue Robinson came into the Late Show studio to talk about the Holderness motorcycle group which each year organises a 'Santa Run'. The club was formed by Paul and Sue about a decade ago when they were members of an existing club covering the city. However, they felt there was sufficient interest from the existing membership to start a club exclusive to Holderness and so the Holderness Hi-siders and Lo-riders was born. More recently the name has been shortened to Holderness Hi-siders. Both Rick and the Robinson's have had an interest in motorcycling for many years. Rick used his machine to commute from Scunthorpe to BP at Saltend. Paul and Sue took their interest a stage further and gave up their jobs, sold their house to buy a property in Spain to start a Bed and Breakfast business aimed at bikers. Spending three years abroad for Paul and Sue was an experience they won't forget. They'd bought a property 3000 ft up a mountain in need of an extensive renovation. However after some hard work the business was up and running and attracted a large number of bikers not only from the existing club but also attracted much passing trade. Feeling homesick they've now returned to the UK and are looking forward to the Santa Run for 2008 which they started many years ago. Each year bikers from the region embark on a cavalcade starting at the Haven Arms at听 Hedon, where the club meets regularly. Santas, snowmen and bikers festooned with glitter make their way to the Hull Royal Infirmary carrying presents for older people in hospital. The bikers also raise money to donate to the hospital to buy equipment. The main picture shows the bikers about to embark on a Santa Run at its starting point in Hedon. Rick Wright is organising this years' run once again, after taking over stewardship when Paul and Sue left the country. On a recent 'run' he had a double reason for making the trip as his brother happened to be in hospital at the time. This year's Santa run starts at 1pm outside of the Haven Arms in Hedon, Sunday 14th December. It will travel along Hedon Road in Hull and through the city centre making its way to the Hull Royal Infirmary on Anlaby Road. Motorcyclists are invited to join the run with a suitable present for elderly people in hospital.听 If you'd like more information contact Rick Wright, Tel. 01964 622570. last updated: 16/10/2008 at 14:34 You are in: Humber > 成人快手 Radio Humberside > Steve Redgrave's Late Show > Every Picture Tells a Story > Holderness Hi-siders MCC |
