Who cares?

Greg Gough and Roni Wilson are involved with 'Who Cares', part of a network which is being set up to give people in North Lincolnshire a voice on issues of health and social care.

'Who Cares' is the name given to the North Lincolnshire Local Involvement Network or LINks. This is a part of a government initiative for the whole of England which is looking for people to have a say in what they want from health and social care from their local authorities.

Greg Gough has recently been appointed as the LINk co-ordinator for 'Who Cares 'and is helping get the message out to members of the public that they can have a say and have an impact on what's available and when. Roni Wilson, an ex-County Councillor has many years of experience both in the political and voluntary sector having been involved with Voluntary Action North Lincolnshire for a number of years. Now, Roni is on the steering committee of Who Cares and knows too well how important health care is, as Roni suffers from MS and needs access to quality care.

The official launch of 'Who Cares' is October but right now they'd like people to come forward and become involved to help assess where health priorities lie in North Lincolnshire. Greg and Roni are keen to stress听 there's significant government backing to ensure that health authorities take note and act on suggestions and recommendations from 'Who Cares'. The brief is wide ranging and encompasses everything from; when GPs' surgeries are open to groups with specific health issues.

To that end, Mr Gough is already campaigning for people to come forward and participate. To qualify, people need only to have access to health and social care in North Lincolnshire, which means that not only residents can take part but also those who live beyond its borders but who travel into North Lincolnshire to receive health and social care.

If you'd like to take part, you can contact Greg Gough direct by 'phone on 01724 845155 during office hours or anytime using the e-mail address below. A website will also be launched in the near future giving more details of Who Cares.
