1916 Easter Rising Gallery
Image of army officers with captured Republican flag
A group of British army officers pose beneath the statue of Parnell with the ‘Irish Republic’ flag that had flown over the GPO in O’Connell Street during the insurrection in 1916. The flag was lodged at the Imperial War Museum and returned to the National Museum in Dublin in 1966 for the 50th anniversary of the Rising. ©
