MediaDev
is an initiative of Hereford's Rural Media Company.
They
will be exploring DIY documentary film making in a brand new series
of workshops this autumn.
Doing
Docs brings together media professionals, documentary producers
and independent filmmakers in a lively series of workshops at the
Courtyard.
Whether
you are a media wannabe, a graduate, a media artist, or a seasoned
professional Doing Docs will introduce you to new ways of working
and new techniques to sharpen your practice and inspire new direction.
Documentary
Directions on Saturday 18th September is the first of three courses
and will be hosted by Dick Fontaine and Julie Moggan from the National
Film and Television School, which successfully runs a two-year course
enabling filmmakers to take risks with form and content and find
their own distinctive voice.
Dick,
a renowned filmmaker, and Julie, a recent course graduate, will
talk about operating outside "the system" and screen some
of their work.
Undercurrents,
an award-winning yet alternative company, will take the spotlight
at the second course in the series on Saturday 16th October.
Undercurrents,
who in their ten years of operation have created a worldwide network
of radical documentary makers, provides a platform for the news
stories of video activists and independent filmmakers.
Digital
Stories on Saturday 13th November, the final workshop on offer,
will be run by Daniel Meadows a well experienced professional in
the field of digital storytelling.
In
a mobile home equipped with a gallery and a darkroom, Daniel travelled
the length and breadth of England offering a free photo to everyone
who posed for him.
Daniel
will demonstrate how to tell your own short, powerful, personal
multimedia tale.
The
courses will be taking place on Saturday 18th September, Saturday
16th October and Saturday 13th November at the Courtyard in Hereford
from 10am to 12.30pm.
There
will be a small fee of 拢5 per ticket for each event and booking
forms can be obtained from The Rural Media Company.
