Jack's Hammer formed in 1993 and are a melodic hard rock band, with hints of prog, classic rock and good old heavy metal thrown into the mix. With all of them being affable, seasoned performers, Hammer went all out to entertain when playing live, energetically mixing eclectic originals with their own versions of more famous, retro-esque songs. With kind assistance from local bands and local promoters, 2008 saw the band venture into the neighbouring Worcestershire gigging scene for the very first time. In 2009, the band starting making appearances at festivals and played various venues in and around Herefordshire, Worcestershire and the South West (Swindon). But sadly, the band announced after performing on the Friday Session Introducing stage at Wyeside 2009, they were to split. Why?"On Monday 8 June 2009, a decision was taken by Jack's Hammer to amicably split.
"We're all still good friends, and we take with us 16 years-worth of good memories; nigh on two decades of time well spent. "In effect, the Friday Session at Wyeside was our swansong and we couldn't have asked for a more amazing closing chapter. "The support that The Friday Session has shown us is/was very much appreciated. You gave us a chance to play to a bigger local audience - and from that, our gigging schedule got busier and more varied and rewarding as a result. In actual fact, we have a lot of people to thank for making Hammer such a colossally fun ride; the Abbott, H5, Reinforced and Derailed in particular, in very recent months. But it's better if we just say "Thanks to everyone that ever appreciated us, over the years". "We ultimately played music because we loved doing it... But to get the level of acclaim from others that we did is truly humbling and awe-inspiring. All the support we received, both here and abroad, kept the fire in our bellies burning, and we close the 'book of Hammer' with more than a hint of regret. "Suffice to say though, various ex-members will possibly be resurfacing at some stage in the future too ... And we formerly of Hammer can never truly 100% rule out the possibility of a return to action, sometime in the unfurling tapestry of time. "Cheers - and much respect goes to you all." You can listen to all the latest music from across the two counties on the Friday Session Introducing... every week from 7pm, on 成人快手 Hereford & Worcester.last updated: 25/07/2009 at 13:21 Have Your SayHave you seen Jack's Hammer at a gig near you?
