Lou has released her first album, Grounded, which was self-produced at Birch Studios in Herefordshire. The album features 11 original tracks and is inspired by strong attachments to home and family, with several of the songs telling real life stories of some of her own family members. Lou playing at The Wyche Various other themes also feature in songs - topics such as the media, the music industry, environment issues and the world of corporate business are all covered on the album, as Lou writes about anything that interests or inspires her. Although she cites Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell and many others as influences, Lou's sound has been described as "unpigeonholable" by reviewer Toxic Pete. Playing guitar from an early age both classically and in a school band, Lou returned to Hereford, following a music degree at Nottingham University, to pursue songwriting and performance, as well as teaching guitar in many local schools. She enjoys playing a range of guitars and other instruments, and employs a classical technique mixed with acoustic finger style and percussive strumming. Armed with her trusty Taylor guitar, Lou also uses loop and delay pedals to create unique layered sounds. In 2008, Lou performed at many festivals and venues including Nozstock, Workhouse and Wyeside.
