The Big PictureYou are in: Hereford and Worcester > The Big Picture > Ellie snaps The Bulls MacDonald and Hooper celebrate Ellie snaps The BullsEllie James is the official photographer for Hereford United - and has sent her pictures into The Big Picture. There are lots of photos of people playing sport in The Big Picture, but few manage to get as close as Ellie James – that's because she's lucky enough to work for her favourite football team, Hereford United, as a photographer. Ellie James at Wembley Ellie, who's 19 and from Bromyard, has been taking photos of the action home and away since 2006, after senior photographer Steve Nibett asked her to step in when he wasn't available. They now both take photos at the club and Ellie couldn't be happier! She says it's a great job, that combines her love of both photography and football: "I've always had an interest in photography, ever since I was young - I was always the one with the camera, there are hardly any photos of me!. "It was my older brother Ben who first got me into Hereford United - he took me to my first match when I was about 13.
"I started supporting regularly in the 2005/2006 season, whenÌýwe got promoted." As a fan Ellie gets just as excited as everyone else, and suffers the same travel problems as other fans going to an away match: "Playing at Leeds in an FA Cup Replay we had problems with the coaches, and hit traffic just as we were nearing Leeds, so I missed the goal which got us to the next round.Ìý "There was loads of adrenaline that day, despite the pouring rain and sitting in a puddle!" FeedbackBeing an official club photographer means that the players know who Ellie is, and if they don't like the photos they'll tell her: Hereford United v Rochdale "Simon Travis mentioned a photo which ended up in the paper last season, and I took one of Wayne Brown last year when his stomach was sticking out a bit! "I do get a lot of photos of odd facial expressions which I do have a private laugh to, but I rarely publish them." "My adrenaline starts pumping when we're putting pressure on the opposition, and my reaction to that is to press my trigger finger down to get the best photos I can of what is going on. "I'm not sure I'd get the same buzz if I was working for another team. Then again, if the opportunity of a Championship or Premiership club arose I wouldn't turn it down immediately!" The Big Picture aims to make the biggest photo album the West Midlands has ever seen, and they need over 100,000 images if they're to create a world record-breaking photo montage. You can add your pictures to this montage - they don't have to be arty or professional, but they just have to be photos of people or places in Herefordshire or Worcestershire that matter to YOU.The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ is not responsible for the content of external websites last updated: 04/03/2008 at 14:54 You are in: Hereford and Worcester > The Big Picture > Ellie snaps The Bulls |
