When you look at the influences of a band, you can start to pinpoint and build up an idea of what sort of style or sound the band will have.听

Looking at what music had influenced The Counterfeits, it was very difficult to tie them down to a particular genre or set of influences.

Folk and Blues artists such as Leadbelly, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams, mixed with the rock bands like The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, punk acts like The Germs and The Stooges, and more recent acts like Nirvana and Queens Of The Stone Age, all helped to shape the band's music.

Since forming in January 2006, The Counterfeits have worked on developing each idea, each composition slowly, building it, arranging and rearranging it, assessing, experimenting, delaying, and changing with each gig a platform to test their unique sound.

In the band's relatively short existence, they played gigs around the country, including a full UK tour, building up a large and devoted fan base along the way.

They have supported a host of national touring acts (Delays, Vincent Vincent and The Villains, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Blackbud and Jim Noir to name a few) and received 成人快手 and student radio airplay in numerous regions.

They have also been featured in national magazines, including an interview in The Big Issue.

"This incredibly raw, live sounding EP from The Counterfeits delves into the archives of classic blues and grunge. The opening track is called 'Aint it a Shame' which Fats Domino it's not but a classic blues riff it is! 'The Waiting' a compelling energy rush of White Stripeness and Cobain vocal melodies. 'No More' could have been written by The Who. 'Jack O' Diamonds' is almost Aneurysm by Nirvana and 'See that my Grave is kept clean' is 'one last favour from you' (lyrics). The Counterfeits sound like an English Jack White singing bluesy Nirvana songs which, to my surprise, sounds pleasantly refreshing after all the Libertines tribute bands coming through! How can a reference to The White Stripes already sound refreshing?! Anyway The Counterfeits certainly maintain an energy, which made the aforementioned sound refreshing in the first place although they don't seem to consider lyrics so carefully. Sadly in late 2007, the band decided to "call it a day" and have now moved on to various other musical projects within the county.
