Been to a wedding in Scotland so training been more whisky based. Did lots of Scottish dancing. Definitely as strenuous as running 13 miles, especially with beefy Scotsman on your arm. Went to physio this week due to leg strain. Have vertebrae out of place. He lent on my hip and did other yoga-like positions. Feels better now. I have to do stretches every few hours. Not practical when presenting a radio show. Going to try and run nine miles this weekend.
Monday 24th April:
Ready to run
Did my longest run ever on Sunday. Seven miles!! Think the marathon inspired me. If Jade Goody can do 10 miles before keeling over, I can do 13. I also wanted to try out new running shoes and socks. Had feet poked and prodded at Run Around (sports shop) in Worcester. Clearly have weird feet as trainers look a bit built-up. Special socks stop you getting blisters. Another tip - rub surgical on feet a week before run. Will be able to walk on hot coals
Thursday 20 April:
Easter eggs great for temporary sugar rush but not for long-term running career. Not worried about egg-eating as will run off any extra calories (hopefully). Nicola Goodwin given me old running magazines - useful tips in there. She told me that a pair of running socks is essential item - I can lose toes without them! Not sure I can afford colourful lycra running suit though - holey tracksuit bottoms make do for moment.
Off to a good start with the training this week. Ran Monday and Tuesday. Left leg been feeling a bit dodgy so walked a bit yesterday. What if I walk a bit during the run - will that be cheating?! Managing to run just over four miles at the mo. Will hopefully run today but meeting friend for lunch - might have glass of wine...and it's bad to run on a full stomach...
