Japanese anemones are among the best late summer and autumn border flowers, with tall upright stems that do not need staking. The large wide open blooms associate well with most other late flowers, especially if allowed to spread gently among perennials and shrubs. 'Hadspen Abundance' is taller than most varieties, with rich pink flowers. Mulch plants for winter protection, or lift and overwinter them in sand in a frost-free place. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it the Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
