This heavy cropping variety produces some very long pods, up to 38cm (15in) long and each pod containing 9 beans. Sow seeds in late October to January in a sheltered spot, in double rows 23cm (9in) apart. When the plants are in full flower, pinch out the tops to encourage fuller pods and to deter blackfly. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
