An indispensable herb, this has a multitude of uses, not least for garden decoration where the mounds of daintily curled leaves are an asset anywhere. They make a decorative edging to beds and paths, and also complement seasonal flowers in window-boxes, containers and hanging baskets. If protected from frost, the biennial plants can be cropped right through the winter and into their second year. Make two sowings a year to ensure there is never a shortage of fresh parsley, and pot up a few plants in autumn for cutting in winter on a window-sill.
