Parrot feather is a highly efficient oxygenator and was once recommended for garden ponds. However this tropical marsh plant has become an agressive pond weed in the UK countryside in recent years. This is thought to be a result of the milder, wetter winters, which have meant that certain 'exotic' garden plants have not kept in check by hard winter frosts in many parts of the UK.
