One of the joys of early spring the lovely Anemone blanda, from the Eastern Mediterranean where, long before the tourists arrive, it graces rocky places, shrub and open woodland in sheets of colour. The delightful flowers are like large daisies. 'Blue Shades' is a lovely variety with blue petals neatly arranged around a gold centre.
