This tough tree will cope with just about anything, including cold or wet situations. It can even survive fire damage, resprouting from underground stems. Part of this success in difficult sites is due to its ability to fix nitrogen. It makes a medium-sized tree or large shrub with deep grey bark, shiny grey shoots and dull green leaves that are greyish beneath.
