Grasses have never been more popular within gardening, and their good looks and simple cultivation make it easy to see why. This Chinese fountain grass grows in tufts of bright green fronds, crowned with feather-like plumes of purple-green bristles. The fronds of grass turn golden yellow in the autumn and although the grass will eventually die back in winter, this plant will grow again in the spring. It's ideal for a prairie-style garden, but can also add a Mediterranean feel to a patio or border, particularly when displayed in blue-glazed terracotta pots.
