'Giant Bronze' is a bronze-leaved form of the garden fennel. This is not to be confused with sweet or Florence fennel, an annual vegetable grown for its swollen bulbs. 'Giant Bronze' forms a handsome clump of feathery foliage that is the perfect contrast to large-leaved perennials. The dark foliage can also be used to complement bold red and yellow flowers or soft silver-leaved plants. With plenty of humus and water in dry weather, plants develop into magnificent clumps of feathery foliage, crowned in late summer with large heads of tiny flowers. The seeds are as useful herbally as are the leaves, and may be left to ripen as a crop.
