A good choice if you have poor, dry soil in partial shade, this euphorbia will thrive in poor conditions. It spreads by underground runners, forming a low weed-smothering carpet. 'Purpurea' has dark purple foliage that contrasts well with its lime green flowers that emerge in spring. These persist until summer, gradually fading in colour. It makes a good evergreen backdrop to woodland plants or other shade-lovers. In heavy shade the foliage may fade to green. It's also a good variety for large winter containers.
