Bollywood's new comic ace, Boman Irani, is on a roll. After a run of rib-tickling performances in the likes of Munnabhai MBBS and Waqt, his latest film, Khosla Ka Ghosla, sees him up the ante to play a greedy, crotch-scratching land broker who dupes a middle-class Delhi family of their plot of land. Just how the dysfunctional Ghoslas, headed by nervous patriarch Kamal (Anupam Kher), join hands to scam the goon makes for a genuinely amusing and tender black comedy. And it's all thanks to some good old-fashioned storytelling.

One year from retirement KK Ghosla (Kher) pours his life savings into a plot of land on which he hopes to build his dream house. Unbeknown to him, his children aren't as enthusiastic about his plans. While his youngest son (Parvin Dabas), is secretly applying to immigrate to America, his layabout eldest (Ranveer Shorey), fantasises about setting up his own real estate venture. It's not until crafty businessman, Kishan Khurana (Irani), forcibly nabs Khosla's nest egg that the clan resort to some cunning amateur dramatics to get back what is rightfully theirs, with expected hilarious consequences.

"SUPERB DIRECTION AND SCREENPLAY"

Just which party ends up winning ownership of the land is by the by. What鈥檚 more attention worthy is Dibaker Banerjee and Jaideep Sahni鈥檚 superb direction and screenplay, which make Khosla Ka Ghosla an entertaining watch from start to finish. While the whole cast deliver engaging performances, it is Kher and Irani who provide the most belly laughs as the chalk and cheese landowners who value their territory for completely different reasons. If you fancy a laugh Bollywood style without the unrealistic songs, then give this the once over.
