Concert Information
Join the 成人快手 Philharmonic鈥檚 Conductor Laureate, Yan Pascal Tortelier, as he leads the orchestra through two epic French masterpieces.
Evocations was inspired by Roussel鈥檚 experience with Eastern culture, conjuring up such scenes as the busy streets of Jaipur and nights on the banks of the Ganges, with silken colours and shamelessly exotic melodies.
In Saint-Sa毛ns鈥 Organ Symphony, a single majestic chord from the organ makes the very air itself shimmer and ring. The orchestra welcomes Jonathan Scott, a prizewinner at many International competitions including St Albans Organ Competition, Musica Brittanica Early music Competition and RCO Performer of the Year Competition.
About his final symphony, Saint-Sa毛ns鈥 declared 鈥淚 gave everything to it I was able to give [. . .] what I have here accomplished, I will never achieve again.鈥
This concert will be broadcast live on 成人快手 Radio 3.
Join us at 6:15pm for a pre-concert conversation with Yan Pascal Tortelier. This conversation will be signed by a British Sign Language interpreter.
