Celebrating 100 years since the birth of Leonard Bernstein, the 成人快手 Concert Orchestra and Crouch End Festival Chorus showcases works which are all connected to the great composer.
罢肠丑补颈办辞惫蝉办测鈥檚 Romeo and Juliet, a 鈥楩antasy Overture鈥�, is full of violence and passion 鈥� the perfect start to a concert which concludes with Bernstein鈥檚 West Side Story Suite No 2 鈥� a reimagining of Shakespeare鈥檚 play into a New York gang warfare setting. Bernstein鈥檚 Chichester Psalms uses some of the music cut from West Side Story together with the composer鈥檚 settings of Hebrew Psalms which combine jazz and classical elements in a heartfelt prayer for peace.
Also being performed is the world premiere of Ryan Latimer鈥檚 Frigates & Folly 鈥� a work full of colour and energy, based on the story of Moby Dick. Ryan Latimer was born in 1990, the year Bernstein died.
