Colin Currie is a BIG fan of Dutch composer Joey Roukens. He鈥檚 called the work he鈥檚 playing here 鈥榦ne of the repertoire's great concertos鈥� resplendent in colour and life, it is 40 minutes of adventure and emotion.鈥� Enough said. There鈥檚 plenty of life, too, in our wonderful conductor Chlo茅 van Soeterst猫de, who鈥檒l bring energy and insight to Mozart鈥檚 Don Giovanni overture, and Beethoven鈥檚 Second Symphony. Written at the onset of his deafness, it鈥檚 a symphony that鈥檚 both sunny and powerful, as if the composer is enjoying flexing his ever-developing musical muscles.
