It’s startling to consider that for the four Liverpudlian lads in Circa Waves—Kieran Shudall, Sam Rourke, Colin Jones and Joe Falconer—a paltry nine months elapsed from the release of their debut single Get Away—also released on cassette by Jen Long’s Kissability label and hailed by Zane Lowe as the Hottest Record in the World— to the moment in September 2014 when they opened at Alexandra Palace for indie rock royalty the Libertines.
In that time they put out their second single Stuck In My Teeth (to which Zane also gave the Hottest Record high five) and the Young Chasers EP, opened the NME Awards Tour for Temples, Interpol and Royal Blood, and played a ton of festivals all over the world. Mind you, it did take a relatively lengthy (for them) six months for their debut album Young Chasers to emerge after that. The poor things must’ve been worn out after all the excitement.
