Here Comes the Summer

If the success of 5SOS teaches us anything, it’s that YouTube can be a magic wand and a fairy godmother for aspiring musicians across all genres. As they made their first musical moves, Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood were just three Australian punk kids blamming out sparky covers of pop songs from their bedrooms, until they put them online, and managed to pick up a drummer (hi Ashton!) and an audience along the way. And before you can say “is there wifi?” there’s a record deal, an international hit single (She Looks So Perfect) and a chart-topping album to follow.

Oh and then there was the small matter of supporting One Direction on two world tours, and winding up in the Live Lounge doing to Blink 182’s "I Miss You" what they used to do to Chris Brown songs back in the day. That’s like having a cherry on the cake that is slightly bigger than the cake itself, and made entirely of nicer cake.
