Jake Bugg first picked up a guitar after hearing ‘Vincent’ by Don McLean on an episode of The Simpsons. He has written a plethora of heartfelt songs influenced by Johnny Cash, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix.
After playing a series of gigs in local pubs, Jake sent his demo to Dean Jackson at ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Nottingham where his music was forwarded onto Radio 1. Aged just 17, Jake took to the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing Stage at Glastonbury 2011. It was here that he caught the eye of Mercury Records, bagging himself a deal.
At the age of 18, he was the youngest British male to premiere at the top of the charts with his debut album, which has sold 430,000 copies. He was nominated for best breakthrough act in 2013 and Best British Male 2014 at the BRITS.
Jake toured North America with Noel Gallagher and Snow Patrol, was a special musical guest at Russell Brand’s Give It Up concert for Comic Relief at Wembley, supported the Stone Roses at an invitation-only show, and supported the Rolling Stones.
Though it’s his third visit to the festival, 2014 marks Jake’s first ever appearance on the Main Stage at T.
