About This Event
鈥業 will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart.鈥 Palestrina鈥檚 joyous Passiontide motet provides the starting point for the Proms鈥檚 first ever visit to Southwark Cathedral in a programme that sets faith against doubt and 16th-century Italian polyphony against a world premiere by British composer and Master of the Queen鈥檚 Music Judith Weir.
Palestrina鈥檚 radiant Mass glows with spiritual certainty, whether in its dancing Hosanna or long-limbed Sanctus. The 成人快手 Singers are joined by the Nash Ensemble and tenor Adrian Thompson for Weir鈥檚 In the Land of Uz, which takes inspiration from the story of Job, whose faith in God is shaken repeatedly through suffering and disaster.
