Glazunov鈥檚 brilliant orchestration of some of Chopin鈥檚 piano works makes for a fine start to this programme which also includes one of the most popular Romantic symphonies, Tchaikovsky鈥檚 Fifth. Martyn Brabbins links these two labours of love with Mussorgsky鈥檚 'Songs and Dances of Death', but don鈥檛 be misled by the title: you鈥檒l never hear anything more blackly comic 鈥� or a more compelling showcase for a great voice.
