Imagine...an intoxicating combination of Eastern and Western traditions creates musical magic,
In December last year, we were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Zakir Hussain. A legendary tabla virtuoso, global ambassador of Indian classical music and four-time GRAMMY winner, Hussain鈥檚 extraordinary legacy inspires musicians and music lovers around the world. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and fans across the globe.
We are hugely honoured that Zakir鈥檚 brother and tabla player, Fazal Qureshi, will perform as soloist in the 成人快手 SSO鈥檚 upcoming concerts in Glasgow and Aberdeen. Alongside soloists Niladri Kumar (sitar) and Rakesh Chaurasia (bansuri), Fazal will perform Hussain鈥檚 own 鈥楾riple Concerto for Tabla, Sitar and Bansuri鈥, conducted by Alpesh Chauhan.
Hussain described his composition as 鈥渁 tale of love, tradition, and the transforming power of art.鈥 Our performances will be a heartfelt celebration of Zakir鈥檚 life and music, and we look forward to sharing this tribute with our audiences across Scotland and on 成人快手 Radio 3.
The concert programme remains as originally advertised:
Zakir Hussain - Triple Concerto for Tabla, Sitar and Bansuri
Sergey Rachmaninov - The Isle of the Dead
Igor Stravinsky - The Firebird 鈥 1919 Suite
