About This Event

Two centuries on, Beethoven鈥檚 Fifth Symphony has lost none of its shattering power. A tirade against destiny, it remains one of the most compelling yet perfect musical arguments ever created. Sakari Oramo conducts it here, after the pulsating drive of HK Gruber鈥檚 Busking, performed by H氓kan Hardenberger, the soloist for whom it was created.

But, to start, music of pictorial delicacy: Henri Dutilleux鈥檚 sonic reproduction of the cosmic, whirling effect of Van Gogh鈥檚 painting The Starry Night.
