Concert information
Ryan Wigglesworth, who was scheduled to conduct after the death of Oliver Knussen last year, has had to withdraw due to injury. The 成人快手 Philharmonic is very grateful to Moritz Gnann who has stepped in to conduct at very short notice.
In tribute to Oliver, a performance of his work 鈥楩lourish with Fireworks鈥 opens the concert.
The second half of the concert will now be Dvo艡谩k's Symphony No. 9, 鈥楩rom the New World鈥. In February, it was announced that the advertised world premiere of Martin Suckling鈥檚 This Departing Landscape would no longer feature in this concert and was replaced by Berg鈥檚 Three Fragments from 鈥榃ozzeck鈥.
Claire Booth, who was due to join the orchestra for Henze鈥檚 Ariosi and Berg鈥檚 Three Fragments from 鈥榃ozzeck鈥, is unable to perform due to illness. The 成人快手 Philharmonic thank Christiane Oelze (singing the Henze) and Allison Oakes (Berg) for taking her place at short notice.
Whilst situations beyond control have resulted in several changes to the original programme 鈥 we look forward to Dvo艡谩k's final and arguably most popular symphony, and also to welcoming two distinguished, international sopranos.
