If you weren鈥檛 aware that Mozart arranged Messiah for a late-18th century orchestra, you are in good company. From 1800鈥�1950, the piece was more frequently played in his re-orchestration, but over the last 70 years it has completely fallen out of fashion.

We join Britten Sinfonia, soprano Hilary Cronin, alto Helen Charlston and our Chief Conductor Sofi Jeannin for Handel鈥檚 iconic oratorio in Mozart鈥檚 compelling version, abundant in rich and surprising textures created by the addition of trombones, horns, flute and clarinet.
