About This Event

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 2's Friday Night is Music Night takes over The Lowry Theatre in Salford Quays with an evening packed with festive music performed by the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Philharmonic, acclaimed singer Curtis Stigers and featuring the highly anticipated world premiere of the latest instalment in Craig Charles’ series of fairy tales.

For this unique performance, master storyteller Craig Charles (Red Dwarf, Robot Wars, The Gadget Show, Coronation Street, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 2 & 6 Music) presents another wonderfully enchanted wintry tale for all the family in a musical treat guaranteed to kick-start your festive season; 'Scary Fairy Saves Christmas'.
In conjunction with composer Iain Farrington, (Horrible Histories, Wallace and Gromit, 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony) Scary Fairy features a larger than life cinematic score as Craig presents the third instalment of his modern day series of fables.

This ingenious fable in rhyme takes you on a whirlwind adventure full of humour and childhood nostalgia with many twists and turns, reflecting the world in which we live in today and tackling modern day taboos with Craig Charles’ customary razor sharp wit.

Angellica Bell is your host for the evening and joins the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Philharmonic and conductor Clark Rundell for a programme which also includes a selection of wintry delights. In the first part of the concert special guest Curtis Stigers meets the orchestra for the very first time with a selection of his own hits including, I Wonder Why and Never Saw A Miracle, combined with the festive groove of seasonal classics such as Let It Snow and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

This concert will be recorded for future broadcast in ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night on Friday 7 December at 8pm. It will be available for 30 days after broadcast via the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Sounds App.

Join ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 2 for an evening packed with festive treats for all the family.
