Ben Gernon conducts the Scottish Premiere (and first UK broadcast) of Simon Wills's musical postcard from Trinidad, and mezzo Kathryn Rudge - chosen by ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 3 as one of its New Generation Artists - sings Chausson’s rapturous song of love and nature. To close the afternoon, Gernon hurls us into the ardent and pounding rhythms of Prokofiev's 'Romeo and Juliet': Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers, with none of the sentimentality but all of the fire.
