Sat 27 Jun 2015 ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing Stage
Supported by ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing in Guernsey and London

Covers of songs by Fleetwood Mac and Joni Mitchell on Robyn Sherwell’s Soundcloud page give you some clue to the musical leanings of this Guernsey-raised, London-based singer-songwriter. But Sherwell’s sound is much more forward-thinking and broader, combining soft washes of electronica like James Blake or SBTRKT, with the sense of adventure of artists like Imogen Heap and Bat For Lashes.

Bat For Lashes collaborator David Kosten produced Sherwell’s debut EP, Love Somebody, the title track from which became a firm favourite of Lauren Laverne’s on 6 Music show last year. With wondrous follow-up single, Islander - played by ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ DJs across the country and included on a Tom Robinson Fresh on the Net mixtape - Sherwell looked back to her upbringing in Guernsey. More recently, she released Pale Lung, which you may have heard of Huw Stephens’s show in May. A full, Kosten-produced album is due post-Glastonbury and couldn’t be better timed - Sherwell’s dreamy, emotional music is just what’s needed in these austere times.
