Event Information

Franklin Schaffner’s startlingly original 1968 sci-fi classic is brought vividly to the concert stage in this world premiere of the complete film, with live orchestral score performed by the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Concert Orchestra.

One of the most important and influential film scores ever written, Jerry Goldsmith’s ground-breaking music challenges, charms and excites in equal measure – a thrilling, Oscar-nominated tour-de-force for orchestra.

Charlton Heston stars as an astronaut who crash-lands on an unknown planet where apes rule and humans are enslaved. Roddy McDowell and Kim Hunter co-star as the intelligent apes, brought to life on screen by the Oscar-winning talents of make-up artist John Chambers.

Presented by Southbank Centre in association with Orchid Media.
