³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ SO PLUS FAMILY: Nielsen Symphony No. 1
³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ SO PLUS FAMILY is a series of free interactive, family-friendly workshops which introduce the music of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ SO concerts at the Barbican, including a £5 ticket offer (plus booking fee*) for the evening concert.
Tchaikovsky’s stunning Sixth Symphony is a must-hear masterpiece, overfowing with great tunes and dramatic power. ‘Pathétique’ means ‘full of feeling’ (not ‘pathetic’!), and when he was writing it Tchaikovsky called this ‘the best of all my works’. Mozart’s sunny Violin Concerto No. 4 was written when he was still a teenager, and Danish composer Nielsen wasn’t much older when he wrote his fascinating First Symphony.
