School ReportYou are in: Essex > School Report > Westcliff's news makers Student Liam scours the press for news Westcliff's news makersKai, Calum, Ryan and BenÌý After weeks of preparation, Year 8 pupils from Westcliff High School for Boys got the chance to put together their own original articles to be published or broadcast on the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ.Ìý On March 13th, students from Westcliff High School for Boys were given this chance to create their own articles accompanied by images, sound clips, video clips and other graphics to be posted on the official ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ website. The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ School Report allows students around the UK to experience the career of Journalism and teach the pupils news reporting skills.
On the day, some pupils from Westcliff High School for Boys visited Leigh Broadway to gather information about recent news stories that are mainly political and local, national and international. Also, certain other news companies such as ‘The Southend Evening Echo’ came to the school and interviewed some pupils, various teachers and staff about the news stories and their views on it. Students involved in the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ School Report posted their created news stories onto the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ website after they had been taught and experienced the different aspects of Journalism. Students were also given the opportunity to gather important information from subject teachers and the local people around their schools via interviews, voxes and video clips. The reports were broadcasted on the internet at precisely 4:00, for all of the local parents, staff, pupils and the public to view.
