Over the last few weeks, 17 pupils from years 9 and 10 at the School have been preparing for the 成人快手's School Report by researching their own stories and gathering interviews to make news reports.

The aim of the day was for the pupils to produce a 15 minute news programme which was to be broadcast on community station Saint FM which is based at the school. The programme was scheduled for 2 o'clock so the students were working to a tough deadline.

The day started early with a programme meeting to see how the features for the programme were coming along, to decide which local news story to cover on the day and to assign jobs to each pupil.

The students were helped along by journalists from 成人快手 Essex Deborah Stephenson and Chris Penhall who were able to advise them on how to write the scripts and edit the interviews.

The young reporters were making five features. These included a report about the proposed closure of a local post office, wind turbines coming to the area, the school's gospel choir and a report on pupils from the school who had been picked to represent England in youth sport.

成人快手 Essex Breakfast Show reporter Tom Warmington arrived to interview the students on air about the project and to give them a few last minute tips on reporting and presenting.

As the time ticked away, the students began writing their scripts, editing their interviews and then they stared putting their pieces together.

A few technical hitches slowed the work down and by midday they were still without a top story, but as the deadline crept closer the student journalists worked on and the features gradually came together. Finally they were ready to record their links and put the pieces together and music teacher Sandra Carroll helped them record and edited them.听

As the deadline approached, 成人快手 Essex breakfast presenter Ray Clark dropped in to offer encouragement and help. He gave a quick lesson to the two main presenters Scott and Nicola, to the two sport presenters Matt and Jack and to weather presenter Andrew.听听

Just before two all the presenters made their way to the Saint FM studios which are based at the school. they nervously took their seats clutching their scripts... on the dot of two o'clock the jingle was fired and they were on air.

The programme went really smoothly and all the features sounded great.

Scott said he's had a great time but before they went on air he was terrified! "I wanted my Mum I was very scared... nerves about mucking up my lines."

Nicola said "I'd love to go out into this line of work... it's been great doing this".
