My dad and I went to Brownsea a year ago now but we saw loads of Solka deer and red squirrels as well as seeing a wide variety of birds. We did sit in one hide for hours listening to a ater rail nut unfortunately didn't see it.

We went this summer when there were 10 spoonbills on the lagoon. What a treat. We love the island and try to get down from London as often as possible.

Brownsea Island is one of the most beautiful places in the uk. On our last visit we were lucky enough to meet a very nice lady called Joy who showed us where to look for the Red squirrels and we were lucky enough to see nine. Join The National Trust and enjoy.

I stay at Brownsea most years. I walk around the Island at 6am and see lots of Sika deer and red squirrels. There used to be a golden pheasant but I haven't seen it for two years. I also go around the Island after 5pm because when it starts to get quieter the deer tend to come into the open again. I also saw a hummingbird moth on some flowers and was amazed as I had only ever seen a picture of one.

I have been lucky enough to live all my life only a few miles from Brownsea Island and it is a wonderful place to visit. Its great to have the red squirrels here, the deer and all the different birds to name but a few. I hope everyone watching Autumnwatch will enjoy 'my backyard' and want to come and see for themselves.

The last time I visited I was lucky enough to see a spoonbill on the lagoon. I have also seen water vole and night jar on previous visits..... What a place. I have fond memories of spending hours just watching the comings and goings on the lagoon.I need to find a gap in my busy life to visit again soon.

I have had the pleasure of staying on Brownsea on many occassions and have enjoyed the wildlife at all times of the year.

Hi Autumn Watch - I am fortunate enough to be married to a John Lewis Partner and we have had many wonderful stays on Brownsea Island. The moment you jump on the boat at Poole Habour I find myself quickly slowing down the pace of life. It is a truely lovely wilderness and we very lucky to experience this unique island. One of the great things is walking the island when staying at Brownsea Castle, early in the morning before the Island is open to the rest of the public each day - that is very special - the peace, sites and sounds - the hides are great view points and full of detailed info. on the wildlife that you are likely to see. We also love "pottering about " on the beaches with our 3 year old son. Looking forward to the Autumn Watch 2008 - Enjoy the moment.... Richard Chapman - Northamptonshire.
