Scarecrows were peeping around trees and wrapped around lamposts as Broadwindsor celebrated its annual scarecrow festival. Residents began the festival five years ago, when they decided to mark the Queen's Jubilee. Now the festival has taken on a life of its own, attracting visitors from across the county to marvel at the wierd and whacky scarecrows on view. Heather Bunch made a giant crow for this year's festival. "This is actually pretty tame for us. Last year we made an Indian on a horse. You see all sorts around the village - from daleks shooting water to very traditional scarecrows." The village school was busy too, making dozens of miniature scarecrows that decorated windows and ledges around the village. It's a far cry from the days when children used to be scarecrows themselves...
