The Everlasting Rose tells the story of a gardener, who believes the rose bush he planted holds the secret to everlasting life.
A fabric animation workshop at the Animated Exeter Festival was the catalyst that brought two branches of the same family together to create their first ever stop-motion film. Members of the Perry and Hockey families, ranging in age from nine to 50-something, all took a hand in making the film with help from Exeter's Phoenix Media. The characters and background were made using coloured fabric, paper, felt, ribbon and other textiles - all sourced from the Exeter Scrapstore. The family of animators The story concept, about an old gardener who puts a new rose in his garden and discovers that it continues to thrive through all seasons, is by my nine-year-old Abby Perry. As more people become interested in the longevity of the rose, things get a little bit out of hand and the gardener must make a difficult decision. The film is set to an original music score, which was created by Abby and 13-year-old Sarah Hockey. The film-makers have called themselves Perkey Productions, an amalgamation of the surnames Perry and Hockey. They are: Lianne Perry (33), Abby Perry (9), Joanne Perry (50's), Sarah Hockey (13) and Charlotte Hockey (12).听 last updated: 27/11/07 SEE ALSOYou are in: Devon > Devon On Film > Film features > The Everlasting Rose |
