You can almost see the adoring look on Ed George's face as you listen to him being charmed by Welsh opera star Katherine Jenkins on his afternoon show.

The 28-year-old singer was talking to Ed to promote her sixth (yes SIXTH!) album, a collection of choir group favourites.

Katherine talked about her early years spent learning to sing in choirs, reveals what she likes to do with her free time and looks ahead to a forthcoming appearance at Buxton Opera House for a gala dinner to raise money for its new childrens' theatre.

She said: "I've performed at Buxton Opera House in the past and always had a lovely time there.

"But I've not been back for a while so I'm looking forward to going there as it'll be one of the first dates before I go on my tour."

Katherine says the performing arts charity is a subject close to her heart because it was her choir training which has been responsible for all her subsequent success.

She explained: "I have such happy memories of performing in a choir and I don't think I'd have got where I am today without all that experience.

"So my advice to young singers is to either join your school or church's choir or find one in your local area. Choral music at any level teaches you so much about musicianship and blending your voice."
